The Louis LaRue House, Mulholland Highway, Los Angeles CA. The property is listed as a single family residence, built in 1963, but shows in 2014 as only a 462 sf empty parcel. Deeded in 1996 from the Marguerite LaRue estate to Jack and Christine Pritchett. Deeded to son Alan Handley who lived there for 35 years. In 1965, Alan Handley commissioned Wright for a remodel which was unbuilt. Deeded to his son, Paul Handley.

The construction company failed and Ellwood went to work as a cost estimator for Jack Cofer of Lamport Cofer Salzman in Los Angeles. Ellwood did the cost estimating for the Charles and Ray Eames house in Pacific Palisades. He then designed the Lappin house in 1948. Ellwood left Cofer and started an architectural firm, Craig Ellwood Design, in 1949.
